Lyskultur promotes expertise within the field of lighting and lighting design in Norway. It does through its broad membership of designers, engineers, electricians, consultants and suppliers who contribute to international regulations and standards, and Lyskultur’s booklets, magazines and guides.
We worked with Lyskultur to develop a brand identity that would reach across its web presence, printed materials and awards show. Our type-centric design expresses the technical nature of Lyskultur’s activities and the expertise of its membership. A custom wordmark, based on a font by Ivaylo Nedkov, channels the distinctive breaks of neon tubes. This functions as both a universal motif and a useful tool for communication.
To introduce an illuminated life to the work, to attract a broader membership and reflect the equal importance of natural and artificial light we animated the wordmark, used warm yellow, a glossy print finish, layered acrylic and colourful gradients.
